You may have heard on the ‘woof’-vine, that Butcher’s are currently partnered with Curzon Cinemas to sponsor their Dog Day Afternoons. Where you’re invited to bring your furry friend to watch a film with you at the cinema. But the news that everyone’s favourite Marvel antihero, Deadpool, is bringing man’s best friend, Dogpool, to the big screen has sent us barking!
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is always full of surprises, and the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine film is no exception. Among the anticipated explosions, razor-sharp wit, and iconic adamantium claws, there is an unexpected star stealing the spotlight: a dog. Yes, you read that right. In a film dominated by two of Marvel’s most iconic antiheroes, played by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, a furry, four-legged companion is poised to capture the hearts of fans.
Did Dogpool save the day? Not a chance in gremlin hell. But she IS currently causing the Disney plushy merch department nightmares. Coming with the movie, Summer 2024 🐶💩L pic.twitter.com/mMtUb4wSsk

Dogpool, also known as “Deadpool the Dog,” is a lesser-known but fascinating character in the Marvel Comics universe. This canine version of Deadpool hails from Earth-103173 and is part of the Deadpool Corps. Dogpool was a product testing animal for a cosmetics company on his Earth. The company tested a regenerative serum on Wilson, which, mirroring Wade Wilson’s (Deadpool’s) experience with the Weapon X program, granted him accelerated healing abilities.
In the trailer for the film, Dogpool can be seen licking Deadpool’s face – we can’t wait to see what Dogpool gets up to in the movie!
“Her real name is Peggy, and she won the award for Britain’s Ugliest Dog,” said Ryan Reynolds in a recent interview with Empire Magazine. “The reason why I was a huge proponent for her was because she feels like the animal manifestation of Wade Wilson.”
Peggy, believed to be a Pug and Chinese Crested cross, belongs to Holly Middleton from East Yorkshire. Holly says Peggy is “beautiful both inside and out”. We absolutely agree Holly!
