Have you heard of feeding tripe for dogs? As pet-owners, we do absolutely everything we can to show our dogs just how much we love them. We walk them, groom them, and put up with even their worst of habits! But when it comes to feeding time, how do you know what food is best for your dog?
Tripe is the natural super food for dogs, with a taste they just love! Packed with high-quality protein, calcium for strong bones, Vitamin B12, and the all-important Omega-3 to support the immune system.
In the wild, dogs would have hunted for their food, and gobbled up the most nutritious parts of the animal first before anybody else could get their paws on it. That would be parts like tripe and other nutrient-rich parts of the animal – such as kidney & liver. Some people call these variety meats; some call it offal.
Not so long ago, tripe and offal were part of human’s staple diet, but things have changed. Nowadays, we’re more likely to prefer a fillet steak on the menu!
Here at Butcher’s, we still champion feeding tripe to dogs. This Tripe recipe is Butcher’s original, and has been carefully made since 1987!
Tripe and offal may not sound very appealing to us, but they’re packed with nutrients like protein, calcium, all-important vitamins, and essential omega oils.
Tripe contains:
Being grain free our tripe for dogs recipe is naturally gluten free, containing no grains or bulkers.
Tripe is acidic in pH, making it easier for your dog to digest and helping to sooth sensitive stomachs! Green tripe uniquely contains high levels of probiotics, including gut-friendly bacteria and digestive enzymes that can benefit a dog’s digestion. [2]

I swapped my fur baby onto tripe grain free as his coat seemed lacklustre & his poos were always runny. What an improvement in his general health & we have normal poos again now. Eats every bit so clearly loves it!

We only use natural green tripe, never bleached – that’s green from all the grass the cows have been eating! Unlike other tripe dog food you’ll find, ours is green because it comes from grass-fed cattle, so it retains all its natural nutrients. Bleached or ‘white’ tripe has been cleaned and cooked (often boiled) and will have lost some of the nutrients in the process.

My boy has two tins a day morning and evening and has his biscuits through out the day. Only food for my lad is butchers tripe and has been on it now for 8 months. He loves it and so does his coat and tummy.

It’s a minefield out there when your choosing dog food. You need it to be good quality, cheap, and the dog to like it. But the grain free tripe ticks all the boxes. Has good reviews in general, and and 80 percent score on the website, allaboutdogfood.co.uk. She loves it. Such a relief to see the doggy eating all her food after so many failed attempts at others.
