OUR SUSTAINABILITY PLEDGE
Here at Butcher’s we’ve been making nutritious and delicious recipes for dogs for over 30 years now. But as part of our commitment to keeping dogs as happy and healthy as possible, we also have to take responsibility for the impact our packaging can have on the environment. That’s why we’ve taken crucial steps towards using more sustainable materials, and in turn helping our customers to recycle with our Sustainability Pledge.
In 2018, we removed the plastic shrink-wrap packaging from our can multi-packs and replaced it with recyclable cardboard. Our boxes save up to 92 tonnes of plastic a year. The cardboard we use is sourced from managed sustainable forests, where harvested trees are always replanted.
It is not just recyclable cardboard we use – our steel cans are plastic-free and 100% recyclable too. These metals can be easily and sustainably turned into new materials, like car parts, bicycles. Or even more cans for Butcher’s tasty recipes!
When our food for dogs is delivered to the retailer or the charities we support, we use 100% recyclable plastic wrapping. So we know it is delivered safely but still fully recyclable.
It’s not just our packaging that’s eco-friendly. Our head office and manufacturing plant are both energy efficient. All rain water is collected from the roof and used to power the loos, and we harness solar energy with solar panels on the roof.
