We’re delighted to announce a huge milestone, having now donated over 2.5 million meals to dogs in need via our #NourishEveryDog initiative!

2.5 million meals donated helps dogs across the country

Every time the #NourishEveryDog hashtag is used on social media, a meal is donated by Butcher’s. We support dog homes, shelters, rescue charities and pet food banks nationwide with meal donations. Since starting the #NourishEveryDog campaign four years ago, over 2.5 million meals have been donated to over 400 charities!

The news comes at a challenging time for pet owners as cost of living pressures mean that 40% of pet owners are anxious about the costs of their pet.* A further 60% of people are seeing an increase in pet bills.* Heartbreakingly, every week over 1,000 people have to make the difficult decision to give up their dog*. The number of dogs in animal rescue centres and rehoming facilities on the rise amidst the cost-of-living crisis, highlighting just how important the milestone is.

Cost of living crisis impacts

Natasha Bryant, Senior Brand Manager at Butcher’s Nourishing Food for Dogs, said: “It’s a really tough time for people at the moment, as the cost of living crisis impacts everything around our day-to-day lives and, sadly, our pets are also feeling this impact. It’s heartbreaking to see the increasing rate of people having to give up their dog, but it does give our #NourishEveryDog initiative all the more purpose.”

“We’re incredibly proud to have donated over 2.5 million meals to over 400 different charities nationwide, and have set ourselves an even more ambitious goal of 3 million by the end of 2023. We’re calling for everyone to use #NourishEveryDog on social media – it really is that simple, and a meal is donated every single time it is used!”

“Butcher’s Dog Food very kindly arranged a donation of a pallet of tinned dog food for our dog rescue Happy Staffie Rescue. The pallet will keep us in wet food for almost two years. I could not thank the team at Butcher’s enough for their communication and help during this time.” Happy Staffie Rescue, West Midlands

Butcher’s volunteer at #NourishEveryDog charities

Alongside the #NourishEveryDog initiative, Butcher’s employees have been volunteering at different dog charities across the country as part of His Majesty The King’s Big Help Out programme.

Volunteers from the business visited the Thornberry Animal Sanctuary in Sheffield and Blue Cross in Bromsgrove, where they helped the charities with day-to-day tasks. From cleaning animal pens and walking dogs to processing donations and painting agility equipment. Please see more information on the charities that Butcher’s supports, including the #NourishEveryDog initiative, here.

Helen Connelly, General Manager at Thornberry Animal Sanctuary, said: “It’s wonderful to hear the news that Butcher’s has reached a milestone target of donating over 2.5 million dogs’ meals. We know first-hand just how important these donations are. Not only have we had almost 10,000 meals donated to us by Butcher’s, but their team members have also volunteered with us to help with our everyday tasks. We couldn’t be more grateful and can’t wait to see them hit that massive 3 million target.”
